There is no evidence that GluD acts as an ion channel

The paper states, ``There is no evidence that GluD receptors act as ligand-gated ion channels.''Published in Proc Natl Acad Sci magazineit was done。
Delta receptors (GluD1 and GluD2)、A member of the ionotropic glutamate receptor family、plays a central role in many neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders。GluD is、Not related to ion channel activity、By forming a tripartite complex across synapses with the secreted synaptogenic molecules Cbln and neurexin (Nrxn).、Controls synapse formation and maturation。On the other hand、in recent years、Only when GluD2 forms the Nrxn/Cbln/GluD2 complex、It was reported that it functions as an ion channel that responds to D-serine and glycine.。Nozawa-kun, together with Hayashi-san、We、Currents induced by D-serine and glycine in ectopic cells and neurons、Proved that GluD is not directly involved as an ion channel。This finding is、It makes an important contribution to the ongoing discussion on the function of GluD.。In collaboration with Pierre Paoletti laboratory、Mr. Ito and Laura Piot acted as first authors.。

Kainate receptors act as synaptogenic molecules

kainate-type glutamate receptor (KAR)A paper on the function of synapse formation is available online.became。KAR is、through ionotropic and metabotropic effects.、Involved in various neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders。However、Compared to AMPA-type and NMDA-type glutamate receptors,、The biological properties of KARs remain unclear in many ways。In this research、K.A.R.、Completely separate from ion channels and metabotropic effects、We revealed that it acts as a synapse organizer that creates synapses themselves.。In joint research with the Juan Lerma laboratory in Spain.、Associate Professor Kakegawa and Ana Paternain are first authors。For Press releaseClick here. 。

LGI1 is secreted from axons during neural activity

A paper co-authored with Jaime de Juan-Sanz of the Sorbonne University in France was published.Published in Cell Reportsit was done。LGI1, like Cbln1, is a synaptogenic molecule that belongs to the class of "extracellular scaffold proteins."。On this occasion、Like Cbln1, LGI1 is also secreted in response to neural activity and promotes synapse formation.、It was also found that it suppresses glutamate release.。Interestingly, Cbln1 is tetanus toxin (TeNT)(VAMP1-3 independent)、Secreted by Syntaxin-4 and SNAP49-dependent SNAREs。In contrast, LGI1 secretion was partially inhibited by TeNT.、Because it does not depend on SNAP29、found to be released by separate SNARE complexes。Yuzaki Lab provided analysis technology for the SNARE complex developed by Ibata。

Brain Club was held with Dr. Masanori Matsuzaki

The 163rd Brain Club welcomed Dr. Masanori Matsuzaki (University of Tokyo School of Medicine) on April 30, 2024。The title of the presentation is "Functional dynamics of intercortical circuits and cortical-subcortical circuits governing behavior and cognition."。Using mice and common marmosets、In the evolution from rodents to primates、We study how cerebral cortical circuits and their functional dynamics change to realize higher-order behavior and cognition.、We heard about how the activity of the cerebral cortex is being elucidated by optical measurement and optical manipulation while performing a task with the head fixed.。
