Kakegawa's paper is published in Nature Neurosci!!


A paper by Kakegawa has been published in Nature Neuroscience (online edition 04 April).。Is a joint research with Kyushu University of Hamase Associate Prof.。

There are many different types of memory、Memory associated with motor skills such as a human of sports and playing a musical instrument activities、Cerebellum of neural circuits are involved。However、Unknown Many points about the molecular mechanisms that control the storage in the cerebellum synapse、For example, we do not know well why to reduced motor learning ability with age。

So far、By protein Cbln1 secreted by neurons in studies using mouse binds to the delta type 2 glutamate receptor (delta 2 receptor)、I had discovered that to control the synapse formation in the cerebellum。Nozawa-kun, together with Hayashi-san、By amino acid D- serine abundant in the cerebellum of juvenile mice bind to delta 2 receptor、To promote the movement memory and learning in the synapse、It was revealed in experiments。In fact D- where serine was prepared and analyzed a genetically modified mouse which can not bind to the delta 2 receptor、Movement memory and learning ability in juvenile life had been significantly reduced。

Binding model of the D- serine and delta 2 receptor、Also believed to be fitted to the people。This finding is、Thing to provide a useful knowledge in understanding the movement memory and learning process in the early childhood of people。Also、Delta 2 receptor is expressed throughout life、By controlling the D- serine pathway、future、There is a possibility that can efficiently to promote motor learning in adults。
